Can we really PLAY?
Should we?
YES!
- Recreation in the life of the church is an opportunity for folks to experience
“re-creation”. It is about creating a safe community where laughter, touch,
acceptance, and risk become okay.
- Recreation or “re-creation” is a spiritual experience, a part of Sabbath and
self-care, which has as much validity in the church as education, worship,
and mission. A ministry of healing and wholeness often comes about as
people laugh, play, and connect with one another through recreation.
- Recreation builds up individuals and the community.
- God calls us to be creative and play allows each of us to be creative, freeing
us up to experience the child-likeness that Jesus points to in the Gospels as
one of the ways we experience the kingdom of God.
So Yes! We most certainly should PLAY!
